Cardi B has finally taken aim at the long-running chatter that her career was built to topple someone else’s. Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast this week, the chart-topping artist dismissed the gossip that her label molded her into a weapon against another female rapper. Cardi told the host that her rise was meant to happen and said she was “destined” to be a star in her own right. She stressed that no one ever signed her with the intention of pushing another woman out of the spotlight.

The rumors date back years, fueled in part by a leaked clip of Ye, who once alleged that Cardi was “a plant by the Illuminati” chosen to replace Nicki Minaj. Though she avoided using Nicki’s name, listeners understood exactly what Cardi was addressing.

During the interview, Cardi also touched on how tension can form between artists. She admitted that clashing personalities are part of life and shared, “sometimes people just don’t get along with each other.” To her, that reality does not mean one person is trying to erase another’s career.

Her history with Nicki has been one of the most public rivalries in hip hop. Fans still remember the explosive moment at New York Fashion Week in 2018, when an argument escalated and Cardi threw a shoe. The incident made headlines worldwide and solidified the feud in the public eye.

Now Cardi appears to be drawing a line between rumor and reality. By directly speaking on the subject, she hopes to put an end to claims that her career is an orchestrated attack. Whether that stops the speculation remains to be seen. The story has lingered for so long that it continues to follow her, even as she insists her success is entirely her own.
