CC Sabathia Voted Into The Baseball Hall Of Fame

CC Sabathia will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The former New York Yankees pitcher Sabathia received 86.8 percent of the vote from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America,  clearing the 75 percent threshold for entry. Along with Sabathia,  Ichiro Suzuki, Billy Wagner, Dave Parker and the late Dick Allen make up the class of 2025.

The New York Yankess legend will be inducted along with Ichiro Suzuki, Billy Wagner, Dave Parker and the late Dick Allen.

In a statement, Sabathia spoke about how much making it to the Hall of Fame meant to him.

“It means a lot to be in the Hall of Fame, period,” Sabathia said. “But first-ballot, I know what that means as a baseball player. It’s very special.”

Sabathia also recalled visiting the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y., and being inspired by walking through the hallowed halls.

“That was the first time I really, really thought about it,” Sabathia said. “I was like, ‘Damn, I really want to be in the Hall of Fame.’ I never thought about being in the Hall of Fame when I was playing but going up there, it’s like, ‘Oh yeah, this is cool.”

Derek Jeter, one of the greatest Yankees of all time, paid tribute to Sabathia after his big announcement.

“During my career with the Yankees, I had the honor of playing with so many talented players,” Derek Jeter said in a statement. “No player exemplified a Hall of Fame player and person more than CC Sabathia. His career on the field speaks for itself, but it’s his career as a teammate that stands out the most. I look forward to welcoming CC to Cooperstown.”

When’s he officially inducted  this summer,m Sabathia will be wearing a Yankees cap into the Baseball Hall of Fame:

“The Yankees was the place that wanted me. I’ve been here now 16 years. I love the other organizations…but this is home. I found a home in The Bronx and I don’t think I’ll ever leave this city.”

Over a 19-year career with the Cleveland Indians (2001-08), Milwaukee Brewers (2008) and New York Yankees (2009-19), Sabathia established a reputation for consistency, highlighted by 251 victories and 3,093 strikeouts. Sabathia threw 3,577 1/3 innings across 561 Major League contests, surpassing the 200-inning threshold eight times.

He won a World Series with the Yankees in 2009.
