Chris Brown is taking the early criticism of his new album, Brown, in stride.

Two days after releasing the project on May 8, Brown addressed fans directly through Instagram Stories on Sunday, May 10, thanking listeners while acknowledging that the album has sparked divided opinions.

“Just wanna say thank you to everyone who listened to this album,” Brown wrote. “Been a lot of mixed reviews and I can take my audience’s criticism and opinions.”

The R&B star did not shy away from the conversation surrounding the project. Instead, he framed the response as a familiar pattern.

“The last 3 albums have came under the same scrutiny and it eventually grew on people,” he continued. “Thank you for even taking the time out to listen.”

Brown’s comments suggest confidence in the album’s staying power. While some listeners have praised the project’s vocal performances and glossy production, others have debated its length and creative direction.

For the Virginia native, however, that kind of reaction is nothing new.

Over the past decade, Brown’s albums have often inspired mixed first impressions before gaining traction on streaming services and among his core fan base. His latest statement indicates he believes Brown will follow that same path.

The message also underscored his appreciation for supporters. By thanking fans regardless of their opinions, Brown showed that he values honest feedback as much as praise.

The heart emoji that closed his post added a personal touch to the note.

Brown’s response was equal parts gratitude and reassurance. He accepted criticism without becoming defensive and reminded listeners that albums can evolve over time.

For now, Chris Brown appears focused on the long game, trusting that Brown will connect more deeply as fans spend additional time with the music.
