Claressa “GWOAT” Shields wants Beyoncé to be part of her boxing legacy, expressing a desire for the music icon to walk her out at one of her future fights before retirement.
Shields made the request during an interview with TMZ Sports host Babcock. The 31-year-old champion spoke directly to the music icon while discussing her eventual retirement.
“Beyoncé, listen, baby girl,” Shields said. “Before I retire, I need you to walk me out.”
Shields does not have a particular song in mind. She is willing to let Beyoncé decide how the moment unfolds.
“You pick the song,” Shields said. “Only perform 30 seconds, one minute, whatever you decide.”
For Shields, the request carries symbolic weight. She referred to herself as “the greatest woman of all time” while describing her vision for a final ring entrance.
Claressa “GWOAT” Shields Hopes Music Icon Beyoncé Will Walk Her To The Ring Before She Retires From Boxing
“Before I retire, I need Beyoncé to walk out the greatest woman of all time,” Shields said. “That’s my only request.”
The champion insisted she would ask for nothing more from the global superstar.
“I won’t ask you for nothing else,” Shields said. “I won’t even ask you for a picture if that’s not what you want.”
Shields still has time to make the dream happen. She said she plans to continue fighting until she turns 38.
Her competitive fire remains evident following her latest victory. Shields recently scored a dominant knockout against Kaye Scott.
The victory added another achievement to an extraordinary résumé. Shields owns Olympic gold medals and championships across multiple professional weight classes.
Her journey has also been dramatized through a biopic, underscoring her impact beyond boxing.
Yet even with those accomplishments, Shields has a specific image for her final chapter. Beyoncé would provide the soundtrack and the walkout.
The champion also discussed potential future challenges during the interview. Those included MMA star Cris Cyborg, who recently called Shields out.
Shields also addressed a possible return to mixed martial arts. She discussed the prospect of facing Laila Ali someday.
For now, however, Shields has already chosen the person she wants beside her for one defining moment.
“Beyoncé,” she said, “I need you to walk me out.”
