Comedian and entrepreneur B. Simone is speaking openly about the precarious nature of fame and fortune, and the detrimental cost of backlash in the social media era.

In a recent interview with Earn Your Leisure, she described a dramatic swing in income following public backlash online. At her peak, B. Simone reportedly earned $1 million in a single month. The following month, she brought in just $10,000.

“I made $10,000 the very next month. Why? Because I was canceled on social media,” she said. “So I went from a million-dollar month to a 10,000. Do you… I don’t… what percent drop is that? We are in the red.”

Though she laughed during the interview, the seriousness of the situation was clear. B. Simone recent years have been plagued with controversy, including “trillion dollars or minutes with Jesus” comment and revealing she doesn’t shower daily.

B. Simone stressed that followers do not automatically translate into revenue. A sizable online audience cannot guarantee financial stability, as consumer support often proves unpredictable.

“Followers don’t equate money, and you can be here one day, and the consumer is so episodic,” she explained. “One day they’re like, oh, well, she… yesterday you loved the book.”
