Conor McGregor is confronting his past missteps with a candid admission of infidelity to his longtime partner, Dee Devlin. Following the conclusion of a high-profile civil case, the UFC icon expressed deep remorse for his actions while maintaining that his encounter with Nikita Ní Lamháin in 2018 was entirely consensual.
Reflecting on the events that unfolded after a Christmas party six years ago, McGregor acknowledged his failings. “I should have shut the party down,” he admitted. “I should never have betrayed the woman I love most in the world. That’s all on me.”
His statement conveys both accountability and regret, as he vowed to learn from the experience and move forward.
The 36-year-old fighter also reiterated his intent to appeal the jury’s decision, which held him liable for assault and awarded Ní Lamháin approximately $250,000 in damages. Despite the legal setback, McGregor expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his family, friends, and fans, who stood by him throughout the ordeal.
McGregor and Devlin, who began their relationship before his meteoric rise in mixed martial arts, got engaged in 2020. Devlin remained a steadfast presence during the trial, standing by McGregor through the turbulent proceedings.
Now looking to turn the page, McGregor is refocusing on his career. “The fight game awaits,” he declared, hinting at a return to training and competition.
While the fallout from the case lingers, McGregor’s statement signals a desire to rebuild trust in his personal life and regain his footing in the octagon.
