A newly surfaced video showing DaBaby being interrogated by police after a 2021 Miami shooting has ignited intense debate across social media.
On Monday (Jan. 6), the Law&Crime Network shared a lengthy video documenting the rapper’s questioning following a violent incident at the upscale Prime 112 restaurant on Memorial Day. The shooting left one victim paralyzed and resulted in several arrests, including DaBaby’s detention for questioning as part of the investigation.
While Law&Crime Network suggested the footage portrayed DaBaby as emotional, with claims that he even cried during the interrogation, a closer review tells a different story. In the video, the North Carolina rapper appears defiant and confrontational with police, rather than distraught.
“This isn’t even the Walmart interrogation,” one viewer commented on YouTube, pointing out the network’s apparent misrepresentation. “This is the incident in Miami. Get your channel together, dude.”
Another user ridiculed the claim of DaBaby crying, calling him a “narcissist” and questioning how he’s managed to avoid jail time. Some viewers speculated there was a mix-up between Law&Crime Network and another platform, noting the video was unrelated to the infamous 2018 Walmart altercation in which DaBaby was involved.
The Miami shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Memorial Day 2021. Authorities arrested Wisdom Awute and Christopher Urena in connection with the violence. Both faced charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
Urena also faced additional charges, including grand theft and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Reports allege Urena pursued one of the victims in a stolen car after the shooting.
The incident drew widespread media attention at the time and continues to shadow DaBaby’s career. As the video circulates online, it fuels ongoing conversations about his legal troubles and controversial public persona.
Whether the footage will have further consequences remains uncertain, but it underscores the complexities surrounding the rapper’s life offstage.
