Daddy Yankee has filed a $250 million lawsuit against his ex-wife, Mireddys González, accusing her of financial misconduct and defamation in a dramatic escalation of their divorce.

Once admired as high school sweethearts whose love story spanned nearly three decades, their relationship has unraveled into a contentious legal battle. The reggaeton legend claims González and her sister, Ayeicha González Castellanos, mismanaged two of his business ventures, causing substantial financial losses.

Court documents reveal Daddy Yankee’s frustration over their alleged overreach. “Mireddys and Ayeicha González Castellanos continued to assume greater power than was permitted and together made reckless and selfish decisions that were detrimental to both the companies and Mr. Ayala Rodríguez (Daddy Yankee),” the lawsuit states.

Beyond financial disputes, the lawsuit accuses González and her sister of orchestrating a campaign to damage Daddy Yankee’s reputation. As news of the legal filing spread, González took to social media with cryptic yet pointed messages.

Without directly addressing the claims, she posted biblical passages and reflective quotes. One read, “Stop having empathy for people who treat you badly.” Another warned, “Emotional attachment is a prison for the soul; it makes you see virtues that do not exist and hopes where there are none.”

The couple finalized their divorce on February 18 through a virtual court session, opting to appear remotely from their attorneys’ offices rather than face each other in person. Their separation marks the end of a marriage that began in 1995, long before Daddy Yankee’s rise to global fame with Gasolina.

For years, their relationship was seen as a rare example of stability in the music industry. González frequently appeared alongside Daddy Yankee at events and played a key role in managing aspects of his business empire.

The lawsuit now reveals deep fractures beneath that public image, turning a once-celebrated partnership into a bitter legal war.
