Dame Dash is revisiting his long-running feud with Hip-Hop Mogul Jay-Z, alleging his former Roc-A-Fella Records partner once said their association threatened his ambitions as a businessman.
During a recent episode of “Quiet Part Out Loud,” Dash recalled a meeting involving music executive L.A. Reid. According to Dash, Reid wanted him present because “he wanted a businessman to be there.”
Dash said Jay-Z then explained how he wanted to shape his public identity.
“He was like, ‘I want to be known as a businessman,’” Dash recalled. “Like, flat-out said, ‘I want to be known as a businessman and I can’t be known as a businessman with you next to me.’”
Dash said he rejected the idea immediately.
“I was like, ‘I don’t even want to be next to you, n****. You’re not a businessman,’” he said.
The former Roc-A-Fella executive also questioned Jay-Z’s role within the business empire that followed the label’s success. Dash described the Brooklyn rapper as a “figurehead” and pointed to executives such as Steve Stoute as key players behind major decisions.

“If you notice in his interviews, he’s a box of rocks,” Dash said.
Dash then revisited disagreements involving Jay-Z, his finances and “Reasonable Doubt,” Jay-Z’s acclaimed 1996 debut album.
“Jay ain’t st. We all know that. And I’ll say it,” Dash said. “And y’all could tell me [I’m a] chatty patty when he fks up $40 million of my own money.”
The music executive also recalled Jay-Z allegedly declining to walk “The Woodsman” red carpet with him. Dash claimed his former partner had “such a conglomerate of people that would conspire” against him.
“He’s over there with them, I think, because he needs the crew,” Dash said. “He can’t do nothing on his own.”
Dash and Jay-Z’s fractured partnership has remained a defining chapter in Roc-A-Fella’s history. Their public tensions have continued decades after the label became a cornerstone of hip-hop.
Jay-Z also referenced Dash during a freestyle at the Roots Picnic in May, adding another moment to their enduring public dispute.
