Damon Dash is addressing a long-circulating rumor tied to Beyoncé and Jay-Z, but this time includes Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland. During a recent appearance on The Art of Dialogue, the Roc-A-Fella co-founder denied claims that he ever pursued Beyoncé while she was involved with Jay-Z.

Dash framed his response around his early encounters with the singer. He said he first met Beyoncé when she was a teenager, during the rise of Destiny’s Child.

“I couldn’t unsee her as 16,” Dash said. “I never ever wanted to mess with Beyoncé; I didn’t want to.”

The interview clip surfaced in late April and quickly gained traction across social media. In the video, Dash reflects on industry relationships while seated outdoors.

Dash recalls teasing Destiny’s Child during a Cancun video shoot, describing the group as young at the time. Those memories, he suggested, informed his stance.

Damon Dash Dismisses Beyoncé Rumors, But Revealed Interest In Kelly Rowland Before

However, Dash’s comments took a turn when he referenced Kelly Rowland. “Kelly Rowland though… I’ve actually seen her and been like, I would mess with her,” he said.

He clarified that he encountered Rowland years later at a concert. “She was with a man, and I had to apologize,” Dash added. “But I was like, ‘Oh, you got kind of cute.’”

Social media users highlighted that Rowland and Beyoncé are close in age. Destiny’s Child made their debut in 1998. Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland remained with the group until its breakup in 2006.

One user wrote, “Kelly is the same age as Beyoncé.” Another added, “That logic doesn’t add up.”

Critics also pointed to Dash’s past relationship with Aaliyah. He dated the late artist in 2000 after knowing her earlier in her career.

Some users argued that this history complicates his reasoning. Others defended Dash, saying his remarks about Rowland referred to a later encounter between adults.

Overall, Dash aimed to shut down a rumor tied to Roc-A-Fella’s mid-2000s fallout. Instead, his comments reignited conversation about industry dynamics and personal boundaries.

Jay-Z, Beyoncé, or Kelly Rowland have not responded to Damon Dash’s remarks at this time.
