Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is preparing to assert counterclaims against former producer Lil Rod in a $30 million civil lawsuit alleging sexual assault and coercion, according to recent court filings. AllHipHop broke the news on Wednesday.
Combs’ attorneys indicated they intend to pursue claims based on what they describe as “recent conduct and facts that have emerged.” The filings do not specify the nature of those allegations. However, they signal a developing litigation strategy as Combs continues to serve a 50-month federal sentence.
Lil Rod initiated the lawsuit in February 2024, alleging Combs leveraged financial incentives and industry access to coerce him into sexual acts. The complaint outlines what Rod characterizes as a sustained pattern of manipulation over several years.

Combs secured a partial dismissal in March 2025, when a federal judge struck five racketeering claims from the complaint. The ruling narrowed the case but allowed several core allegations to proceed. The civil action remains pending.
The dispute unfolds alongside Combs’ criminal case. In 2025, a jury convicted him on two counts under the Mann Act involving prostitution-related offenses. On October 3, 2025, a federal judge imposed a 50-month sentence. The term fell below the advisory guideline range of 70 to 87 months and well under the government’s request of more than 11 years.
On April 9, 2026, Combs’ counsel argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit that the sentencing court improperly relied on acquitted conduct. Defense counsel also raised First Amendment considerations, asserting constitutional protections should inform the sentencing analysis.
“My client is entitled to a sentence based on conduct proven beyond a reasonable doubt,” defense counsel argued during the hearing.
The appellate panel expressed skepticism toward those arguments. A decision remains pending as of April 15, 2026.
Combs’ legal team has indicated it expects to file formal counterclaims against Lil Rod by June 30, 2026.
