Doja Cat’s father, Dumisani Dlamini, is speaking out after the rapper blasted him for not attending her recent concert in South Africa. The rapper has been very open in the past about her estranged relationship with her father. Most recently, she shared a series of videos on her TikTok, titled “The Deadbeat Chronicles.”
Apparently, Doja had been communicating with Dlamini and offered him a ticket to her show, which he promptly denied, claiming he’s was too busy. In response, Doja did what she does best: troll. She ended up pranking her father by sending him a link to a gay pornography website. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Dlamini—a South African actor best known for his role in the 1992 film Sarafina— responds to allegations of being a “deadbeat.”
He claims Doja was brainwashed by her “white, Jewish” mother, an American woman named Deborah Sawyer, into believing he was absent in her life. “That white woman brainwashed my baby, that I had left her. I never left my kid. She played the cards because of being influenced by her mother. She came to South Africa. She’s got power to see me, and she faked it,” he said.
Doja Cat And Her Father Trade Shots Online, Public Weighs in
The Shade Room captured the pair’s online back-and-forth in a recent Instagram post, and judging by the comments, people aren’t on Dlamini’s side. “Womp, womp, womp. You chose that white woman,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “He [was] talking like he didn’t know she was white,” while a third came to Dlamini’s defense, arguing that Doja’s mother could have manipulated her perception of him.
“As a family member with a niece whose mom literally took the child away from my brother, no warning, nothing. He hasn’t been able to see her since she was born into this life. Sometimes “mothers” are the problem. The relationship [not] working out does not allow you to keep a father from his child and lie to the child their whole life,” they wrote.
In other news, Doja Cat recently opened up about her dating life in a new Vogue interview. According to the 30-year-old rapper, she’s a “serial dater” who is ready to mingle. “I’m 30, so I’m ovulating and horny,” she says, unapologetically, as she embarks on this new stage in her life.
