A new record is broken by Eminem, continuing his reign as the Rap God.

The Detroit native’s new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), is Spotify’s highest-streamed album in a single day of 2024. The new album debuted with 63 million streams on opening day. It dethroned Future and Metro Boomin’s We Don’t Trust You, which opened with 59 million streams in April.

The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) is Eminem’s biggest streaming debut yet. The conceptual project is Eminem’s 12th studio album via Aftermath/Shady/Interscope. Days before its release, the rapper shared a tweet that explained to fans that they should listen to the album in order.

He wrote, “Public service announcement: the “death of slim shady” is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense. Enjoy.”.

In May, Eminem announced the album with a trailer featuring protege and hip-hop mogul 50 Cent. Promotion for the album included an obituary in the Detriot Free Press and a wake held at the album release party. In the album, Eminem goes at Diddy and Candace Owens

The Death of Slim Shady features Big Sean, JID, BabyTron, Ez Mill, Jelly Roll, White Gold, and more. The album has released two singles, “Houdini” and “Tobey.”

Eminem has been busy with multiple performances and monumental life moments outside the album. In May, he performed at the NFL Draft. Later that month, he gave away his daughter, Hallie Jade Scott, as she married her husband Evan McClintock in a private ceremony in Battle Creek, Michigan, on May 20.

Eminem released a new song dedicated to his daughter, “Temporary,” after dissing his children on “Houdini.” In the emotional track, Eminem addresses his fears, rapping, “A lot of people ask me, am I afraid of death? The truth is, I think what scares me the most is not being able to say all the things I wanna say to you when I’m no longer here. So, this song is for Hailie, for when that day comes.”
