Floyd “Money” Mayweather isn’t quite ready to retire being in the ring!
The boxing champ announced he’s going to travel to Tokyo soon to negotiate with a promotional company for a RIZIN event, a Japanese mixed martial arts organization. He wants to fight in a match sometime later this year.
Posted on The Money Team page, Mayweather flexes with his muscles and his crew behind him! He looks in great shape and is thankful for the support from his team. In the caption, he wrote, “Whole team laced in TMT. If you don’t have a team that supports your growth like this, you need a new team.”
Take a look:
Back in December 2018, Mayweather participated in his first RIZIN exhibition against a well-known kickboxer, Tenshin Nasukawa. Heavy reports Mayweather won but the fight received backlash as ESPN said the fight looked stage. Mayweather received $9 million from the fight but it didn’t go on his official boxing record.
However, reported on The Sun, COVID-19 is making it difficult for Mayweather to catch a flight to Japan. Hopefully (if it’s safe) Mayweather will be able to make the deal.
Mayweather officially retired from professional boxing in 2017 after beating UFC star Conor McGregor. Today (July 14) is the anniversary of their final face-off in London that concluded the MayMacWorldTour.
