Former Rapper Solè Announces Divorce From Public Enemy’s Professor Griff

Former rapper Solé has revealed that her nine-year marriage to Public Enemy member Professor Griff has come to an end.

Solé shared the news Sunday (Oct. 5) in an Instagram post featuring a photo of herself wearing a red dress against a black wall. Rather than detailing the circumstances surrounding their divorce, the former rap star described the separation through a spiritual lens, expressing gratitude for their time together and asking supporters to respect their next chapter.

“After completing a 9 year cycle together, my marriage to Prof. Griff has come to the completion of its sacred season,” Solé wrote.

The former couple’s relationship, she explained, represented a period of shared growth, experiences and lessons. “With a heart full of gratitude, I bow to and honor all that was shared and created and learned along the way,” she added.

Solé also suggested that some relationships are meant to evolve rather than remain unchanged.

“Sometimes we are meant to walk beside one another for an earthly lifetime and other times we are preparing one another for the next expression of our journey in this realm as we walk our separate ways towards our own dharma,” she wrote.

Referencing the Tantric path, Solé described life as “ever unfolding and spiraling.” It encourages people to approach each new chapter with “full presence and truth as well as an open heart.”

She emphasized that honoring a relationship does not necessarily mean preserving it in its original form.

“Always honor what was without needing it to remain in the same form it once took,” she wrote.

Solé said she and Griff are moving forward separately with “deep respect, care and blessings for one another.” She also thanked their supporters for the love they had shown throughout the relationship.

“We are grateful for the love and support so many of you have shared with us over the years and kindly ask for your prayers as we embrace this new chapter,” Solé wrote.

Her announcement frames the end of the marriage as a spiritual transition.
