Gunna‘s relationship with Young Stoner Life (YSL) Records has come under examination following his plea agreement in the infamous RICO case that concluded in late 2022. Recent events have amplified doubts about the rapper’s position within the label. Earlier this week, an attentive fan page noted that all mentions of Gunna were removed from YSL’s official Instagram account, hinting at a possible divide between the artist and the label. This move has prompted curiosity among fans and industry observers, indicating a crucial change in their association.

Although Gunna faced claims of “snitching” to secure his release, initial indications pointed to a friendly relationship with fellow rapper Young Thug. Thug had even received special court permission to collaborate with Gunna as part of his release stipulations. However, the situation shifted when Young Thug posted—and then deleted—a message that appeared to express a different perspective: “Gunna, stop pretending we’re friends online. I don’t know you, my guy.” This change in sentiment has caught the attention of fans, who have been vocal about Gunna’s sudden absence from YSL’s social media platforms.

Steve Sadow Defends Gunna, Denies Cooperation in RICO Case

In support of Gunna, his former attorney, Steve Sadow, has publicly maintained that the rapper did not aid prosecutors during the RICO case. “I was Gunna’s attorney, but I am NOT representing him in this statement. This extensive post is intended only to clarify the truth,” Sadow stated in a recent social media update. This clarification followed the release of a snippet from Young Thug’s music that seemed to allude to Gunna.

Sadow stressed, “Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING and said NOTHING to jeopardize Thug’s case. He spent 8 months in jail and was released in December 2022 after entering an Alford plea.” Furthermore, Sadow clarified that Gunna’s plea deal had no impact on Young Thug’s trial, nor was he ever designated as a witness. Sadow imposed a five-year suspended sentence on Gunna, which included no reporting or travel limitations, and crucially, no probation.

In the past two years, Gunna has persisted in advancing his career, performing worldwide, garnering significant acclaim, and generating considerable income despite the obstacles he has encountered in the industry.
