Interview: Magnolia Bakery’s Sweet Spin On THC Treats

Sara Gramling

This interview was conducted for HOT 97 in November 2024 with Sara Gramling, Vice President of PR and Partnerships at Magnolia Bakery. In this conversation, Sara shares the bakery’s innovative leap into the world of THC-infused treats through a collaboration with Incredibles and the team at Green Thumb Industries. She reveals the inspiration behind the product line. In addition, Sara discusses Magnolia Bakery’s efforts to ensure product quality, safety, and their future plans for expanding this unique offering into new markets.

What inspired Magnolia Bakery to introduce THC treats to dispensaries?

And can you share any insights into the development process behind these products?

“We partnered with Incredibles and the team at Green Thumb Industries. They are experts in the cannabis space and led the development process of the line. We really trusted not only their expertise but also their care for our brand in developing these flavors.”

“We’re always looking for ways to bring Magnolia Bakery to more people, but unique, unexpected ways, and for us, as a bakery, one of the things we saw on social media was people talking about enjoying Mangolia Bakery desserts when they had the munchies.”

“We thought, wow, this is a really unique way of showing up into the world, right? And being able to reach more people and a new audience. We reached out to the Incredibles team to start a conversation. They’re really warm and welcoming and were excited to explore a collaboration. Their team developed the banana pudding bar and the red velvet piece of cake bar. We launched it initially last year in Chicago and Illinois, Nevada, and Massachusetts, and due to the adjustment of the regulations, we were able to launch it in New York and New Jersey this year.”

Who do you envision as the primary audience for these new THC treats?

And how do you believe they will enhance the brand overall?

“I think for us, demographics in different markets who may not be able to even go to a bakery because of where they live.”

What measures are in place to ensure quality and safety for consumers?

“The best people for that are the Incredibles team. We sought them out as a partner because of their high level of care and their attention to detail in the product that they’re producing. It has to go through a lot of testing and follow all of the regulations, and they are really committed to doing that in a way that ensures they’re making great products.”

Do you have any plans to expand the THC treat line or introduce new flavors in the future?

“Right now we’re just really focused on making New York and New Jersey successful and then introducing new markets when opportunities allow.”
