Jake Paul is reveling in his success. The social media personality has emerged as a significant force in boxing, largely due to his recent match with Mike Tyson. However, not everyone is impressed with Paul’s rise. Floyd “Money” Mayweather, one of the sport’s most revered figures, dismissed the newcomer during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
True to his opportunistic nature, Paul took to social media to challenge Mayweather with a series of biting insults, signaling his readiness for a showdown. Mayweather, when speaking with Fallon, confidently claimed he could defeat Paul with ease. “At 48, too easy,” he stated, suggesting that even in his advanced years, the fight would be no contest.
Paul, however, was quick to fire back, reminding his followers of an embarrassing moment in Mayweather’s past. He pointed to an incident from a 2022 exhibition match in which YouTuber Deji managed to land a blow that left Mayweather with a black eye. “You bum. Deji gave you a black eye in an event that had 4,000 people in it,” Paul tweeted, adding a mocking “Deji hahahah.”
Taking the taunts further, Paul confidently declared that he would knock Mayweather out within two rounds, asserting that Mayweather would never be able to compare to Tyson’s legacy. “I would knock you out in 2 rounds and you can’t sniff Mike Tyson’s toe,” Paul claimed, intensifying the challenge.
This isn’t the first time Paul has attempted to provoke Mayweather. In 2023, Paul revealed that Mayweather and his team had approached him during an NBA game. Although Paul admitted that a verbal exchange occurred, he made it clear that he wasn’t interested in escalating matters. “I don’t need to prove my toughness,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’m not going to sit there and try to fight 50 dudes.”
Now, Paul has turned the tables, questioning why Mayweather has been avoiding a real fight. In a flurry of tweets, Paul made his intentions clear. “Floyd will not see me 1 on 1 in a real fight,” he wrote. “His team has hit my team numerous times to do one of his ‘exhibitions.’ Now he ambushes me.”
Jake Paul urged Mayweather to step into the ring for a genuine competition, stating that fans deserve a real fight, not another staged exhibition. “Come see me in the ring. Real fight, no exhibition robbing fans bullsh*t,” he demanded.
With Mayweather already having faced Jake’s brother, Logan, many believe it’s only a matter of time before Jake and Floyd square off in the ring.
