Janet Jackson recently sat down with The Guardian for a new interview. She talked about her decades-long career, her famous family, and politics. When asked about Kamala Harris and the idea of a Black female president she had some interesting thoughts. According to the “All For You” singer, she had no idea Harris was Black. “She’s not black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian,” she told the outlet.

After being informed by the reporter that Harris had Jamaican and Indian ancestry, she still had doubts. “Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days…I was told that they discovered her father was white.” Regarding the upcoming 2024 election, Jackson is hesitant if there will be a peaceful transition of power. “I don’t know,” she says. “Honestly, I don’t want to answer that because I really, truthfully, don’t know. I think either way it goes is going to be mayhem.”
