Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is once again channeling her love for Kendrick Lamar, this time to protest Donald Trump’s address to Congress. Ahead of Trump’s speech on March 4th, the Texas Democrat joined the viral trend inspired by Lamar’s Super Bowl performance, posting a video of herself and two aides dancing to Not Like Us. While lip-syncing along, she added her own twist to the intro, declaring, “The country is divided, somebody’s gotta fight for it.”

Crockett also encouraged a boycott of Trump’s address, making her stance clear on social media. “Well…the State of the DisUnion will begin shortly. I’m gonna be in attendance. DO NOT WATCH!” she wrote. Initially, she was unsure whether she’d go at all, jokingly tweeting, “I must say that I wish I could tap Kendrick and ask, ‘What would K Dot do?’”

In the end, Crockett and several other Democratic leaders staged a walkout in protest. They released a joint statement explaining their decision, citing Trump’s failure to deliver on campaign promises related to jobs and the economy. “What this moment demands me to do is step up the fight and let America know Democrats won’t back down,” Crockett stated.

Their statement emphasized resistance, declaring, “We will not normalize this, in fact we will fight back in each and every way this moment demands. The future of America is on the line. House Democrats are dug in and ready. Now it’s up to the American people to decide, do we roll back or press forward?”

This isn’t the first time Crockett has drawn from Kendrick Lamar’s music in her political battles. She previously likened herself to K. Dot after her viral takedown of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and even used Not Like Us to call out Trump’s comments on Black voters.
