Jeannie Mai is opening up about life as a single mother following her highly publicized divorce from Jeezy.
Mai, who shares a 3-year-old daughter Monaco with Jeezy, finalized her divorce from the rapper in 2024 after being married for three years. During the proceedings, Mai accused Jeezy of domestic abuse, financial obstruction, and endangering their daughter. In turn, Jeezy accused Mia of harassment and placed subpoenas on her bank accounts.
During an appearance on Sherri Sherri Shepherd’s Sherri talk show on Monday (March 24), Mai spoke about her new life as a single mother.
“Shoutout to all the moms out there, especially the single moms, because it’s never what you picture,” Mai said. “You don’t ideally think to have a child and have that whole responsibility to yourself. But I realized that the gift in being a single mom is that you learn how to trust yourself.”
You know exactly what your daughter needs in love; you know exactly how your children need to be seen and heard. And so I’m reparenting myself through Monaco and I’m learning that I always had it—I always had what I needed,” she continued.
When she was asked about whether she’s embraced the dating scene, Mai joked that “the streets scare me.”
“Regardless if I do end up with somebody or not, I’m so happy that I have me,” Mai responded.
According to the divorce filing, Jeezy noted that there was “no hope for reconciliation” between him and Mai. He also accused Mai of “nefarious actions.”
From 2007-2017, Mai was married to her first husband. The couple had no children
Jeezy was never married before but has three older children from former relationships.
Mai is the host of America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation which premiers in April on Prime Video.
