Jemele Hill has a new gig.
It has been almost a year since Jemele Hill moved into her 6PM Sportscenter slot alongside Michael Smith. According to Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated she is now stepping down from that position to chase a brand new opportunity with The Undefeated which is owned by ESPN. The website generally focuses on the mix between sports and pop culture.
According to CNN, the move was her choice.
Hill made headlines back in September after making some tweets calling Trump a “white supremist.” She was later suspended two weeks after what ESPN called a second violation of ESPN’s social media policy.
Hill or ESPN have not released official statements as of this moment. We will have an update for you when it is available.
People I trust at ESPN, people who have dealt me straight for years, tell me Jemele Hill asked for the switch. You’ll no doubt hear otherwise. Up to readers to believe who they trust.
