Over one week after Jay-Z announced an exclusive partnership between Roc Nation and the NFL, the debate continues about whether he disrespected Colin Kaepernick and his movement, and whether he asked Jermaine Dupri to refuse a similar deal when asked about Super Bowl time.
The rumors sparked when Funk Flex suggested that he spoke to Dupri on the phone, and allegedly confirmed that Hova did tell him to refuse a partnership with the NFL.
“I just got off the phone with Jermaine Dupri… He confirmed that when he was working with the NFL last year he did get a call from Jay-Z asking him.. “How deep are you in with the NFL?” Expressing… ‘that might not be a good idea,’” Flex wrote.
The Atlanta producer cleared the air during a recent interview with Big Tigger.
“He and I never had a conversation where he told me,” he said. “‘Don’t do what you’re doing.’ What our conversation was… ‘you know what side I’m on, I understand what you’re doing.’ That’s what the conversation was.”
