Jim Jones Claims To Have Better Catalog Than 90% Of NYC Rap

Harlem rapper Jim Jones is standing by his belief that his catalog ranks among the best in New York City rap, and his latest comments are already stirring debate across hip-hop.

During a recent appearance on the “No Funny Sh–” podcast, Capo revisited the Verzuz challenge he threw at fellow Dipset member Cam’ron earlier this year. While Jones admitted he was “trolling a little bit,” he made it clear that his confidence in his music catalog is no joke.

“I got a better catalog than over 90 percent of the rappers out of New York City in history,” Jones said. “There’s been a lot of rappers in New York, but I got real gold records, more than one of them. I got real platinum singles.”

Jones pointed to his commercial achievements as proof that his place in New York rap deserves more recognition. He argued that his consistency over the years separates him from many artists who receive greater acclaim.

“Some of your favorite rappers don’t have nothing platinum,” he continued. “That doesn’t make me better than anybody, but statistically I got a hell of a catalog. From every album that I put out, I got a dope single. Especially in New York. Hands down, I know I got 20 records.”

Rapper Jim Jones Says His Catalog Is Better Than 90% Of New York City Rap

The remarks quickly spread across social media, where fans reignited the never-ending debate over New York City’s greatest rap catalogs. Supporters praised Jones for backing his résumé, while critics questioned whether commercial success alone defines hip-hop greatness.

This is not the first time Jones has sparked controversy with bold comparisons. Last year, he found himself at the center of another viral discussion after comments about Nas drew widespread reactions throughout the rap community. Jones later acknowledged that he underestimated the depth of Nas’ fan base.

Whether fans agree with his assessment or not, Jim Jones continues to embrace the conversation. His latest comments have once again placed New York City rap history under the microscope while reminding listeners that confidence has always been part of the Harlem rapper’s brand.
