Recording artist and actor Joey Bada$$ was honored with the Impact Award by Tres Generaciones® Tequila at the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Event over the weekend. At the intimate dinner hosted by the Edition Hotel in Times Square, the Brooklyn native was acknowledged for his community achievements. The 29-year-old revealed it was his first award during his acceptance speech.
“It means a lot. This is my first time being honored with any type of award,” said Bada$$. So that goes a long way for me, personally. It feels good to be acknowledged. It’s reassurance and confirmation that I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing.”
Joey was recognized for his newly launched Impact Mentorship program. Launched in October 2023, the mentorship program aims to provide free mentorship for men of color 18 years and older in the US (including Puerto Rico). Joey Bada$$ shared the award with his fans on Instagram on Sunday:
“Extremely honored to accept my first award EVER — the Billboard ‘Impact’ award, acknowledged for my efforts in the community with @impactmentorship. Thank you @billboard and @tresgeneracionestequila but foremost thank you to my friends, family, fans and team, without you all I am nothing. A wise man once said never strive for recognition but strive to be worthy of it. — I LIVE BY THAT. Impact mentorship is also now accepting applications for the 2025 class so tap in @impactmentorship and apply now for your chance of being mentored by the best in the industry.”
Tres Generaciones Tequila hosted an intimate dinner before the R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players event to celebrate artists’ remarkable achievements and unwavering passion. The tequila brand honored BadA$$ for his influence far beyond his lyrical talents. The first Impact Summit was organized by him at Columbia University following his mentorship program, and he made a profound impact on his community.
Featuring signature cocktails including the Tres 73’ and Trespresso Martini, others to be honored with Joey Bada$$ include Offset, Skrilla Baby, and Serayah. Dinner guests include Teezo Touchdown, Playboi Carti, Megan Thee Stallion and Victoria Monét.
The award follows Joey Bada$$’ critically acclaimed performance as Unique in the Starz series Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which resurrected the character after the character was killed in season 3. Over the weekend, a new trailer for season 4 was released.
Raising Kanan’s new season premieres this winter.
