Diddy scored a partial legal victory today as a judge dismissed several claims in a lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault.
The case, brought by former music producer Rodney Jones, originally included nine allegations. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, five were thrown out, including claims under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and breach of contract. A separate claim under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act against Combs Global, Diddy’s company, was also dismissed.
The ruling wasn’t just a setback for Jones—it also came with a pointed critique of his attorney, Tyrone A. Blackburn. The judge reprimanded Blackburn, questioning the quality of his legal filings. At one point, the court noted his apparent misunderstanding of the legal principle that Diddy remains presumed innocent in an ongoing grand jury investigation on unrelated criminal charges.
Jones initially filed the lawsuit in February 2024, with Diddy quickly firing back, dismissing the case as a baseless attempt at financial gain disguised as a sex trafficking and RICO conspiracy. While the judge tossed a significant portion of the lawsuit, the most serious accusations remain. The court did not dismiss the sexual assault claims, ensuring the case will move forward.
The legal battle is far from over, and the possibility of a trial looms. Jones’ attorney remains undeterred, telling TMZ, “A win is a win. Playtime is over—we look forward to discovery. I hope the defendants are ready.”
Despite the narrowing of the case, Diddy still faces serious allegations that could have lasting consequences. As the lawsuit progresses, all eyes will be on the courtroom to see whether the remaining claims hold up under scrutiny.
