KEM, the multi-GRAMMY-nominated R&B artist whose voice helped shape modern soul, begins a new chapter in his celebrated career.
With over 1.1 billion streams and a catalog rich in emotional depth and elegance, the Detroit native returns to his roots by relaunching his independent label, Kemistry Records. His upcoming single, “Give My Love,” due this summer, marks the label’s first release in over 20 years.
KEM will premiere “Give My Love” live at Detroit’s Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre on July 25 and 26. These shows will showcase the intimate, heartfelt style that has defined his music from the start.
Kemistry Records launched KEM’s rise in the early 2000s with his debut album KEMISTRY and the hit single “Love Calls.” After independently selling more than 14,000 copies, he joined Motown Records, which re-released the album in 2003. For two decades, KEM stood as one of Motown’s leading voices, honoring the label’s rich soul tradition.
Reflecting on his exit from Motown, KEM described the decision as bittersweet but vital—a return to creative freedom and a deeper connection with his audience. He said, “Motown has been good to me, but I felt called to return to where it all started. Kemistry Records is where I found my voice and purpose.”
This step follows KEM’s recent journey to South Africa, where he performed two sold-out shows. The passion of those audiences inspired “Give My Love,” a song he hopes will spread that same sense of unity and love. KEM plans to share this spirit with his hometown and beyond.
With “Give My Love,” KEM offers more than new music. He delivers a renewed sense of purpose. The single will be available on all streaming platforms this summer.
