Kendrick Lamar’s much-anticipated film, currently titled UNTITLED TREY PARKER/MATT STONE/KENDRICK LAMAR/DAVE FREE, is set for a theatrical release through Paramount Pictures. Fresh updates surfaced Wednesday (March 5), clarifying that no additional title has been announced and that all official details remain limited. K.Dot and Dave Free are collaborating with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone to produce the live-action comedy, with Parker and Stone directing.
A social media poster initially suggested Lamar, who previously appeared in Power, might star in the film, but no casting has been confirmed. A fake one-sheet with an alleged title briefly circulated online before being removed. While rumors speculated on the storyline, the studio has not verified any plot details or casting choices.
Kendrick Lamar’s Deepfake Transformation: From 2Pac to Kanye
At last year’s CinemaCon, Brian Robbins, CEO of Paramount Pictures, praised the film’s script as both “incredibly funny” and “refreshingly unique,” expressing confidence in its reception. Lamar and Free’s creative partnership with Parker and Stone previously explored deepfake technology, with Lamar appearing as various well-known figures, including Kobe Bryant, Will Smith, and O.J. Simpson.
The masterminds behind South Park crafted the deepfake effects, with unused footage showing Lamar morphing into 2Pac, Kanye West, and Eminem. Speaking to The New York Times Magazine, Stone revealed that several versions were tested but never made the final cut: “You see Kendrick turned into 2Pac, Kendrick turned into Kanye, and I think we had Eminem.”
