Kodak Black believes he’s the target of a growing “hate train” and predicts the hip-hop world might eventually turn on him, much like it did on Drake during his feud with Kendrick Lamar. Sharing his thoughts on Instagram Live this week, Kodak addressed the criticism he’s been facing.

“One day, they’re gonna try to do me like they did Drake,” he declared. “A whole little hate Kodak campaign. Everybody who hates Kodak, step to the left. You see these people campaigning against me.”

Despite his frustrations, Kodak seemed unbothered by the negativity. “It’s all love,” he added. “It just shows I’m impressive. I’m a great friend to have, and I ain’t even friendly.”

Back in December, Kodak publicly criticized Drake for not prioritizing their collaboration, expressing disappointment that Kendrick Lamar had beaten him to it. In a video shared online, Kodak paced around a room as he vented. “I’m Drake’s favorite rapper—he always says that. His people say it too,” he remarked. “So how did Kendrick Lamar beat you to a collab with me? It don’t make no sense.”

Kodak, who featured on multiple tracks from Kendrick’s acclaimed 2022 album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, speculated about Drake’s motivations. “Now I get why he sent me all that money out of nowhere,” he said, referring to a $600,000 gift in Bitcoin that Drake reportedly sent him.

During an interview with MONTREALITY, Kodak confirmed the surprising gesture. “That boy Aubrey, that’s my dog,” he said. “Drake sent me like 600 bands in Bitcoin. He told me I’m his favorite rapper. I love that dude.”

However, relations between the two seem to have cooled. Kodak revealed he no longer wanted to collaborate with Drake following the release of Her Loss, Drake’s joint album with 21 Savage. Originally, the Florida rapper had planned to release a full project with Drake but changed his mind after Her Loss dropped.

“I told Drake I didn’t wanna do any collabs—no songs, no album—because we were supposed to do a whole project together before him and that lil’ buddy dropped their album,” Kodak shared on Instagram Live. “I told him I wanted to wait, maybe drop it in 2023, after February.”

Despite teasing a collaborative album and confirming they’ve recorded a significant amount of material, no joint tracks between Kodak and Drake have surfaced. The status of their partnership—and friendship—remains uncertain.
