Latto, a dominant force in rap and hip-hop, still finds herself concerned about what Eminem thinks of her. During a December 4th appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the 25-year-old rapper shared a memorable encounter with the 52-year-old icon that didn’t go quite as she expected. When Hudson, 43, asked Latto about having Eminem as a guest judge on season 2 of Rhythm + Flow, Latto admitted she was “so gagged.” “I was like, ‘Oh, I bombed that. He thinks I’m weird because I just was like, ahh. I didn’t know what to say, so I was like, ‘Gah, thank you!’” she said, recalling Eminem’s praise when he revealed he was a fan of her music during the series. The season 2 finale, which aired on December 3, also announced the winner of a $250,000 cash prize.

Latto continued, saying, “My daddy listened to Eminem so much growing up, that’s, like, probably his favorite rapper. So, it was just like, ‘Oh, don’t lie to me. For real?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah.’” She added that after the interaction, she asked Eminem for a picture, to which he agreed. “He probably thinks I’m a little awkward,” she joked.

As a permanent judge on Rhythm + Flow, alongside Ludacris and DJ Khaled, Latto explained that her role was a chance to mentor aspiring rap and hip-hop artists, something she didn’t have much of before fame. She also revealed that being in this position reignited her passion for music, reminding her of her early days. Despite winning The Rap Game in 2016 and becoming a judge on Rhythm + Flow years later, Latto clarified, “I’m a rapper. I make music. I’m not a reality TV star.”
