LeBron and Savannah James are speaking for the first time about Bronny suffering cardiac arrest in July 2023.

In Netflix’s new docuseries, “Starting 5” the power couple shared how Bronny’s health scare impacted their family.

“I think at the end of the day, it was just about us supporting each other and just being super grateful for the outcome,” said Savannah as she fought back tears.

“Shout out to the man above,” LeBron added. “And to the whole coaching staff, training staff, members of that program.”

LeBron called Erin, a member of the USC’s medical staff who tended to Bronny after he collapsed a “lifesaver, literally.”

“Erin performed CPR on Bronny when he went down,” LeBron told his mother Gloria when they visited USC’s campus.

The NBA icon noted that the university’s medical team is “the reason Bronny is alive now and smiling and thriving and doing what any 19-year-old should be doing, and that’s living out their dream.”

In August,  Bronny was diagnosed with “an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect.” Following a successful surgery, Bronny began his rehabilitation process. He made his debut with the Trojans on Sunday, December 10, 2023, against Long Beach State.

After only one season, Bronny announced he was entering the 2024 Draft.

With the 55th pick in the second round of the draft, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny making him and LeBron the first father-and-son duo to play in the league.

On Sunday (October 6) night, LeBron and Bronny took the court for the first time in a preseason 118-114 loss to the Phoenix Suns at Acrisure Arena in Southern California.

Following the historic moment, LeBron reflected on how it felt to share the court with Bronny.

“For a father, it means everything,” LeBron said. “For someone who didn’t have that growing up, to be able to have that influence on your kids and have influence on your son. Be able to have moments with your son. And ultimately, to be able to work with your son. I think that’s one of the greatest things that a father can ever hope for or wish for.”
