Drake and LeBron James‘ relationship seems to be unraveling in public view, with signs of tension surfacing throughout 2025. The two have shared a close bond for years, but that dynamic has shifted dramatically since LeBron attended Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out show in 2024, right in the middle of Kendrick’s lyrical war with Drake.

Recently, more fuel was added to the fire when LeBron was seen dancing at a lively day party, reportedly in Cannes, with his wife, Savannah, and business partner Maverick Carter. What caught everyone’s attention wasn’t the destination, but the soundtrack: Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.” In the viral clip, LeBron is fully engaged—rapping along and vibing out—while the camera cuts to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. The internet quickly weighed in. “He dancing harder to it now leswitch up,” someone wrote on Instagram. Another chimed in, “He forcing it now!”

Drake has been far from silent about the perceived betrayal. On his “Fighting Irish Freestyle,” he seemed to throw shots in LeBron’s direction. He even switched up lyrics during a performance at Wireless Festival, rapping, “How I go 6 to 23 but not LeBron.” At that same show, Drake debuted a tattoo that covered up his previous homage to James—his high school jersey number—with a new portrait of Thunder star and Canadian baller Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Fans also believe Drake referenced LeBron again in “What Did I Miss?” with the line: “I saw bro went to Pop Out with them, but been d—k riding gang since ‘Headlines.’”

While Drake finishes up his Iceman project overseas, it’s unclear if the tension will escalate further—or if more pointed bars aimed at LeBron are still to come.
