LiAngelo Ball, now known as the rap star Gelo, has filed for divorce from influencer Rashida Nicole, just days after she publicly announced her pregnancy with their child. The filing, made on July 3 in a Southern California courthouse, marks a sudden and unexpected turn in what appeared to be a celebratory chapter for the couple.

Court documents obtained by TMZ Sports confirm that the baller-turned-rapper listed March 24, 2025, as their official wedding date, though the couple never publicly acknowledged their marriage. Speculation had swirled earlier this year after they were seen leaving a courthouse in February wearing all-white outfits and carrying a large envelope. Their separation is listed as having occurred on June 15—just 11 days before Nicole revealed her pregnancy on social media.

The news stunned fans, many of whom had interpreted Nicole’s June 26 post as a sign of stability between the two. Ball even liked the post and commented with a heart emoji and a lock-and-key symbol, hinting at emotional closeness. But the divorce filing, citing “irreconcilable differences,” suggests the relationship had already started to unravel behind the scenes.

Ball is asking for joint legal and physical custody of their unborn child and has requested that the court deny spousal support to both parties. As of now, neither Ball nor his legal team has issued a public statement regarding the split.

This isn’t Ball’s first public breakup to stir controversy. Earlier this year, Nikki Mudarris—the mother of his two other children—accused him of abandoning her and their family shortly after she gave birth to their second child. In a since-deleted Instagram post, Mudarris claimed Ball ended their three-and-a-half-year relationship abruptly and informed her he was expecting a child with another woman.

“We spent years together,” she wrote. “Then he tells me he’s starting a new life with someone else.”

Despite the personal upheaval, Ball has maintained a composed public presence. On July 2, he joined Twitch streamer Kai Cenat’s livestream, appearing relaxed and making no mention of his marital situation or upcoming fatherhood.

With court proceedings underway and another child on the horizon, Ball’s personal life has once again captured public attention. Whether this latest split signals a pattern or a new beginning remains to be seen.
