Lil Wayne has issued a formal apology to his supporters after the hip-hop legend failed to appear for his scheduled performance at the Maine Savings Amphitheater earlier this week.

The surprise absence left thousands of concertgoers stranded in the late-night hours of Tuesday, June 30, waiting for a headlining set that never began. The concert was intended to be the opening night of the “20+ Years of Carter Classics” North American tour. While opening act 2 Chainz delivered his full performance as scheduled, Lil Wayne never took the stage.

Venue staff reportedly did not notify the audience of the cancellation until approximately 11 p.m., sparking widespread frustration among fans who had traveled from across the region. The multi-platinum rapper addressed the incident via his Instagram story on Wednesday, offering a brief message of regret to the city of Bangor.

Although he did not provide a specific reason for why he skipped the show, he expressed his gratitude for his followers’ patience and loyalty. “My Maine fans I’m so sorry,” Lil Wayne said in the social media post. “The show is being rescheduled to July 28. Please hold on to your tickets, they will be honored for the rescheduled date.

More information will be emailed directly to ticket holders. I ain’t s–t without you.” The abrupt cancellation was particularly difficult for fans who traveled long distances. Rita Sack, a concertgoer who drove six hours from Nova Scotia, told local news outlet WABI that the experience was a major disappointment.

Sack noted that she and her friends sacrificed personal time and money, only to be left without an explanation on the night of the event. Industry analysts noted that the “Carter Classics” tour is a highly anticipated run celebrating two decades of the rapper’s career. Despite the rocky start in Maine, the tour is expected to continue as scheduled, with the next performance slated for Saratoga Springs, N.Y., where 2 Chainz is again set to open.

Promoters confirmed that all tickets from the Tuesday night performance will remain valid for the new July 28 date. Lil Wayne concluded his apology by promising to return to the state to deliver the performance his fans expected. “I can’t wait to come back and give you the show you deserve,” he said.

Attendees are encouraged to check their email for official updates regarding the rescheduled event and refund policies for those unable to attend the new date.

The Maine Savings Amphitheater has not released an additional statement regarding the specific logistics of the 11 p.m. announcement.
