During a recent conversation with Greg Nice of Nice & Smooth, LL shared the story after Greg reflected on Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s admiration for him and Busta Rhymes. According to Greg Nice, ODB once credited both artists with helping shape the unconventional style that later became his signature.
The conversation prompted LL to revisit an incident he said unfolded at New York City’s iconic Chung King Studios.
“I said, ‘What’s wrong?’” LL recalled, describing a phone call from the late music executive Chris Lighty. “He said, ‘For some reason, Ol’ Dirty Bastard came in here and broke all your plaques and pissed on them.’ I said, ‘What’d I do?’”
Rather than respond with anger, LL said he chose a different path.
