The one-night-only screenings will take place in the United States on Wednesday (Jan. 15) in New York City and Pittsburgh, two cities central to Miller’s life and career. For international fans, the film will hit theaters the following day, Thursday (Jan. 16), with limited showings in major cities including London, Paris, Melbourne, Berlin, Sydney, Dublin, and Auckland. Tickets are available starting at $5 through Miller’s official website, with proceeds benefiting the Mac Miller Fund, a foundation supporting arts education and mental health initiatives.

Attendees will receive exclusive memorabilia tied to the event, adding a tangible keepsake to the emotional experience. Samuel Jerome Mason, who previously directed the visually stunning Colors and Shapes in 2021, returns as director for the Balloonerism film. Executive producers Michael Feder, Greg Bedard, and Hana Shimizu join the project to bring this vision to life.

The album itself, featuring 14 tracks, will be released on digital streaming platforms on Friday (Jan. 17). Fans can look forward to collaborations with SZA and Miller’s alter ego, Delusional Thomas, alongside long-awaited tracks like “Funny Papers” and “Do You Have a Destination?” The LP also includes previously unreleased songs such as “Shangri-La” and “Rick’s Piano” and the pre-released single “5 Dollar Pony Rides,” which debuted on Jan. 9.

In a heartfelt statement, Miller’s estate emphasized the personal significance of Balloonerism to the artist. “This was a project of great importance to Malcolm. He commissioned artwork for it, and discussions about its release were frequent. Ultimately, other albums like GO:OD AM took priority,” the estate explained.

They added that while unofficial versions of Balloonerism have circulated online for years, an official release felt essential. “Releasing this album was something Malcolm deeply cared about. We felt it was most fitting to present the project in the way he would have wanted.”

With the album and film, Balloonerism stands as a poignant reminder of Mac Miller’s creative spirit, offering fans a chance to reconnect with the artist’s extraordinary artistry.
