Mariah Carey is set to open Netflix‘s NFL Christmas Gameday on Dec. 25.
According to the streamer, the “Queen of Christmas” will record a performance of her classic jam “All I Want for Christmas Is You” as Netflix enters the sports world for the first time.
“Fresh off of her largest and most spectacular Christmas tour to date, Carey is set to dazzle fans this year…” Netflix announced in a media release.
Proving its staying power, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” landed atop the Billboard Hot 100 for a 15th cumulative week. The song also reclaimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Holiday 100 chart.
During an interview with the New York Times in November, Carey spoke about the longevity of the son.
“It’s really rewarding, and I’m just grateful for it. And for all the people that come up and say, ‘I love your music,’ or, ‘I listen to your Christmas music in July.’ — That started to become a thing,” Carey said. “I’ve always wanted to do this for my life, and so now we get to do it.”
Along with Netflix, the games on Christmas Day will air on CBS affiliates Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Houston. Also, the games will be available on NFL+ on mobile devices in the U.S.
The NFL Christmas Game Day on Netflix is the launch of a three-year deal between the streaming giant and the league. Per the terms of the agreement, Netflix will air at least one-holiday game in 2025 and 2026. The deal cost Netflix around $150 million in total.
With Carey slated to kick off the highly anticipated games, Netflix announced Beyoncé will perform in her hometown of Houston. She will take the stage during halftime of the Ravens-Texans game.
The first game begins at 1:00 p.m. EST when the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Kansas City Chiefs. Then at 4:30 p.m. EST, the Texans will host the Ravens.
