Megan Thee Stallion was awarded a 5-year restraining order against Tory Lanez after a hearing on Thursday (January 9).

Nancy Dillion, a reporter for the Rolling Stone, said that Megan gave an emotional testimony on video.

“I want my restraining order because I haven’t been at peace since I [was] shot,” Megan said.

Megan also testified that she rarely leaves her house because of anxiety and harassment. She said that people constantly yell “Free Tory” at her.

“I’m just a nervous wreck all the time,’ Megan said.

During the hearing, Megan’s attorney Mari Henderson, argued that her client needed the restraining order because she was “a victim of a violent crime.” Also, the presiding judge cited “several uncontroverted facts” including Tory shooting “shooting approximately 5 rounds at the petitioner that resulted in injuries to her.”

Michael Hayden, Lanez’s lawyer, argued that instituting a restraining order impinges on his client’s “prior restraint” on free speech. He stated that Lanez has no intention of contacting Megan in the future and “has no desire to communicate with the petitioner ever again.”

Megan first filed for the restraining order in December. She accused Tory of continuing to “terrorize her,” by devising a “campaign of harassment”  although he was in prison.

“Mr. Peterson’s attempts to retraumatize and revictimize Ms. Pete recognize no limits — indeed, they continue even while he is behind bars, Megan’s attorneys wrote in the claim.

Also, the legal team requested that Tory be “ordered not to contact Ms. Pete, directly or indirectly, or harass or intimidate her, directly or indirectly, online.”

Following his conviction in August 2023, Tory is serving a 10-year sentence. He is ineligible for parole until September 2029.

The five-year restraining order against him will remain in force until January 9, 2030.
