Memphis Bleek is denying that JAY-Z was ghostwriting his rhymes.
The topic of Bleek needing JAY-Z to write his raps was first brought up by former Dame Dash, co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records.
“I don’t think Bleek wanted to take over [Roc-A-Fella]. I don’t think he had the ability to,” Dash said. “Jay was writing a lot of his rhymes. So if Jay retired, that meant he was out of business as well.”
“Ask Bleek about it. I can understand Bleek’s loyalty to Jay because he had Jay as a ghostwriter,” Dash added.
Beanie Sigel also confirmed that Hov penned rhymes for Bleek. Speaking to The Art of Dialogue, Sigel shared his version of Bleek’s alleged use of a ghostwriter.
“Did he write for Bleek? Yeah, man, of course. To help Bleek out on a lot of sh*t. I mean, you can hear it,” Sigel argued.
He then rhymed Bleek’s verse from the Dynasty: Roc La Familia track “You, Me, Him and Her” off the Dynasty: Roc La Familia album.
“Just pay attention. He always cheated for Bleek,” Sigel continued. “He had to cheat for Bleek, especially if us three was on a record together. Because if I ain’t there with Jay or too far behind him… come on, man. Bleek wouldn’t have stood a chance. That’s my brother. Bleek know.”
Sigel did correct Dash’s statement that Hov wrote all of Bleek’s lyrics.
“That’s a lie. He ain’t write all of Bleek’s sh*t,” Sigel added. “He wrote enough, though. Especially, with records where it was me, Jay, and Bleek. He had to keep up. Did I actually witness it? No. But you knew. I knew.”
Speaking with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Scoop B Radio, Bleek said he doesn’t understand why Sigel was so adamant about the accusations.
“I have no clue bro,” Memphis Bleek told Robinson.“I sell D’usse and be chillin. No hard feelings though. If you saw it, then stand on it. He said he didn’t, so I don’t know.”
Bleek then vehemently denied that Jay-Z did not write his rhymes. “Jay didn’t write them,” Memphis Bleek said,
“Amil and Biggs wrote for me all this time,” Bleek laughed.
Along with working with the Dusse brand, Bleek has entered the podcast space and launched his Roc Solid Podcast, which is powered by Drink Champs. His co-host on the podcast is Brian “B.Dot” Miller.
