During a recent appearance on The Sherri Shepherd Show, Mercedes Moné shared the most impactful advice of her career, offered by her cousin, the legendary rapper Snoop Dogg.
Reflecting on their bond, Moné recalled attending WrestleMania with Snoop at 16 and expressing her dream of becoming a professional wrestler.
“He told me, ‘Cuzzo, if you want to do it, I believe in you.’ He’s been my biggest supporter ever since,” she said.
Over the years, Snoop’s wisdom has guided her, with one memorable piece of advice standing out.
“He told me, ‘Sometimes in life, you’ve gotta be a hoe.’ I asked him what he meant, and he explained, ‘You’ve got to put your head down, work hard, and give it your all until you rise above it. Then, you become a pimp—the CEO of your life.’ That stuck with me.”
Now a powerhouse in the wrestling world, Moné reflected on how that advice shaped her journey. “Back then, I felt like the hoe, grinding to prove myself. But today, with AEW, I’m the pimp. I’m the CEO of my life, and it feels amazing.”
Surprisingly, Moné’s connection with Snoop didn’t begin until later in her childhood. “I didn’t know him until I was about 10 years old,” Moné shared with WTOP News. “My dad told me, ‘Your cousin is a really famous rapper now,’ and I just thought, ‘Oh, cool.’”
Their relationship deepened when Moné was 16, and Snoop brought her to WrestleMania 24.
“That’s when we really started to connect,” she said. “Our bond is wrestling. He grew up a huge fan, and I grew up watching it. When we went to WrestleMania together, I told him I wanted to be a wrestler one day.”
From that moment, Snoop became one of her most steadfast supporters. He contributed to her former WWE entrance theme and even walked her to the ring for her match at WrestleMania 32, living up to his promise to back her dreams.
