As if Politics couldn’t get any messier…Donald Trump has asked Jeff Sessions to resign, and he did just that.
What once was a close working relationship has gone under fire in the midst of “the probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election.”
Trump has negatively critiqued Sessions many times via Twitter for the public to see…and now it is finally over. In Session’s resignation letter he stated this was all upon Trump’s request.
Donald Trump has announced that Matthew G. Whitaker will become the new acting Attorney General of the United States until further notice…
Take a look below:
We are pleased to announce that Matthew G. Whitaker, Chief of Staff to Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the Department of Justice, will become our new Acting Attorney General of the United States. He will serve our Country well….

….We thank Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his service, and wish him well! A permanent replacement will be nominated at a later date.

It is impossible to read Attorney General Sessions’ firing as anything other than another blatant attempt by @realDonaldTrump to undermine & end Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation.

Given his record of threats to undermine & weaken the Russia investigation, Matthew Whitaker should recuse himself from any involvement in Mueller’s investigation. Congress must take immediate action to protect the rule of law and integrity of the investigation. #FollowTheFacts
