Nelly and Ashanti are ready to open up like never before. After rekindling their romance in 2023, roughly a decade after their original breakup, the longtime collaborators and couple have had a whirlwind two years. They quietly tied the knot and welcomed their first child together, Kareem “KK” Haynes, in July 2024.
Now, they’re letting fans into their world with a new reality series, Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together, premiering June 26th on Peacock. The eight-episode show will give a behind-the-scenes look at their relationship as they “rekindle their love, navigate the ups and downs of being newlyweds and new parents, and juggle their careers,” according to the show’s synopsis.
The first trailer, released Thursday, June 12th, shows the couple having candid discussions about their past, present, and future. “With our lives moving so fast, we’re not perfect,” Nelly admits in the preview. “But we can work our way through it.”
The couple originally began dating in 2003 before parting ways around 2013. After nearly 10 years apart, they found their way back to each other. For Ashanti, KK is her first child; Nelly is now a father of five.
Both stars are executive producers on the series, joining Jenny Daly, J Erving, and Lauren Lazin with Critical Productions LLC. In a 2023 interview with Love & Hip Hop’s Rasheeda and Kirk Frost, Nelly reflected on their growth: “I think we both were pretty much doing what we do, but sometimes being separate you understand one another more,” he said. “We know we wrong but we going to stand on it. But we all a victim to that.”
We Belong Together promises an honest, unfiltered look at love, fame, and starting over.
