A newly discovered beef between Nicki Minaj and SZA began and spilled out into the public on Tuesday (July 15). And it appears to be no end in sight.
Nicki Minaj took to X to accuse Top Dawg Entertainment executive Punch—who has long been affiliated with SZA—of online harassment. “So glad I have proof of being bullied by AND being lied on by a man PUBLICLY,” Minaj wrote, alleging she had rejected multiple business proposals from him.
Shortly after, SZA appeared to weigh in with a cryptic post of her own: “Mercury retrograde… don’t take the bait lol silly goose.”
Though the message didn’t mention Minaj directly, it prompted an immediate and pointed response. Minaj fired back, accusing the singer of subtweeting and mocking her appearance with a series of personal jabs, including: “Bitch looking & sounding like she got stung by a fucking bee” and “Draws on my fake freckles.”
Minaj didn’t stop there. She also criticized SZA’s chart achievements, specifically the nine-times platinum status of her 2022 album SOS, which she claimed was inflated through its deluxe re-release.
“Bitch put out a whole new album as a deluxe… so the original album could break records,” Minaj posted. “I thought she was like a real artist? Girl bye.”
SZA declined to engage directly but later responded with a statement defending her success and mental well-being.
“I get bullied by millions online every day then step my ass out onna packed stadium tour where ppl show me REAL love,” she wrote. “My parents are healthy and I’m the most successful I ever been. GET SOME FUCKING PERSPECTIVE n BARK AT THE WALL!!!”
The conflict marks a rare public rift between two of contemporary music’s most influential women. Minaj continues to command attention with her unfiltered presence and dominance in the rap genre. SZA remains one of R&B’s most critically acclaimed artists, celebrated for her introspective songwriting and genre-blending sound.
While SOS has broken Billboard records and further cemented SZA’s commercial reach, Minaj’s criticism suggests a deeper tension about the evolving standards of success in today’s music industry. At the core of the feud are questions about authenticity, competition, and the pressures artists face to maintain relevance in an algorithm-driven era.
As of now, neither artist has indicated any plans to de-escalate the feud. With social media amplifying every post, the fallout continues to dominate conversation and may reshape how both artists are perceived as they navigate the next chapter of their careers.
