Nicki Minaj‘s father tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident in 2021, and now the driver responsible, Charles Polevich, seeks Nicki’s deposition in a $150 million wrongful death lawsuit.

Polevich, who was driving the car that struck Robert Maraj, wishes to question Nicki about her claims regarding her childhood and allegations of her father’s abusive behavior towards her mother.

In a recent motion, Polevich’s lawyer highlighted that Nicki’s mother, Carol Maraj, had already been deposed over two days, most recently on December 15, 2023. The lawyer noted that Carol acknowledged statements related to domestic abuse but did not provide substantial responses regarding their accuracy.

Following the hit-and-run incident, Polevich faced legal consequences and was sentenced to one year in prison by Judge Howard Sturim in Nassau County, New York.

He pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it and tampering with physical evidence, resulting in a six-month license suspension and a $5,000 fine. Originally facing up to seven years in jail, Polevich received the one-year sentence as promised by the judge.

Robert Maraj was struck by a vehicle while walking on Long Island on February 12, 2021, and succumbed to his injuries at the age of 64. The driver initially fled the scene but surrendered to Nassau County Police three days later after authorities located the car, which had been altered to conceal evidence.

The request for Nicki Minaj’s deposition indicates the legal complexities surrounding this tragic incident, with Polevich’s legal team seeking insights into Nicki’s perspective on her father’s character and the family dynamics discussed publicly.
