Normani spent her weekend doing it all, shaking up cocktails, making her film debut, and teasing what’s next. The 28-year-old star pulled up to Dreamville Fest on April 5th as Hennessy’s celebrity bartender, just one day after Freaky Tales officially hit theaters.
The film, set in 1987 Oakland, features Normani as Entice, a rising girl group member navigating the harsh reality of chasing fame. “It’s liberating and very freeing, being able to be creative in a totally different way,” she told PEOPLE at the festival. “I felt like I learned a lot about myself, and I was actually able to celebrate myself and watch myself and not be super critical.”
She shares the screen with big names like Pedro Pascal, Jay Ellis, and Dominique Thorne, but Normani is most excited to watch the film again with family. “When I get home tonight or maybe tomorrow, I’ll take my mom and my dad and my grandma and go to the movie,” she said.
Freaky Tales comes nearly a year after she dropped her long-awaited debut album Dopamine in June 2024. Since then, fans have been waiting on visuals and live performances, and Normani is promising more.
“I got you. We have a lot of special things set up,” she teased. “Always working on new music,” she added with a smile.
Whether she’s on stage, in front of a camera, or behind the bar, Normani is clearly stepping into her next chapter, with no signs of slowing down.
