North West Scores ‘Lion King’ Role, Following Blue Ivy’s Lead

Kanye West’s little one, North, is taking a cue from the Carter legacy and stepping into the spotlight with a role in The Lion King.

Variety reports that the 10-year-old internet sensation has been tapped to star in Disney’s “The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl” — a live concert event.

The special, commemorating The Lion King’s 30-year journey from the original 1994 animated film through the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical to the 2019 live-action adaptation, will feature live performances and elements from the Broadway production. Scheduled for May 24 and 25, the shows coincide with the film’s anniversary and will debut exclusively on Disney+.

West finds himself among esteemed company, joining previously announced cast members such as Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, Billy Eichner, Ernie Sabella, Jason Weaver, Jennifer Hudson, Bradley Gibson, Broadway actress Heather Headley, and Lebo M.

In March, North announced she was following in her father’s footsteps, with her debut album, Elementary School Dropout — Paying homage to her father’s 2004 debut, The College Dropout.

The College Dropout boasted collaborations with Jay-Z, Common, Jamie Foxx, Twista, Ludacris, and more. Debuting at #2 on the Billboard 200, it sold 441,000 copies in its first week and birthed timeless tracks like “All Falls Down,” “Through The Wire,” and “Jesus Walks.”

In February, North West made her recording debut on “Talking,” featured on Vultures Vol.1, the latest album by Ty Dolla $ign and her Ye. The contribution propelled her to become one of the youngest artists ever to reach the top of the Billboard charts. The music video, released earlier this year, has since amassed over 20 million views on YouTube.

Concerning the much-awaited sequel, Vultures 2, Ty Dolla $ign recently disclosed that the project could be released “today, next Friday, any day.”

Meanwhile, fans may have to wait for the preteen’s release, as she has not provided any indication of a release date.
