Along with being one the greatest producers of all time, Pharrell Williams is known as a cutting-edge innovator in the world of fashion. Continuing to make his mark as a designer, Pharrell and adidas have collaborated to launch the Superstar 92, “the reinvention of one of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes.”

This reinvention of the classic shoe pays tribute to cultural legacy and undeniable individuality as the classic silhouette continues to evolve.

First debuting during Paris Fashion Week in June, the highly-anticipated release will be available in select adidas retailers and online at adidas.com on March 1st.

Reimagining the bold design of the ’90s, the “Superstar 92”, also known as the “Double Wide”, brings an ultra-sized take to the classic adidas Superstar silhouette. Taking inspiration from skate shoes and ski boots from the era, the proportions of the shoe are exaggerated while maintaining the details of the original shoe like the serrated shell toe and 3-stripes.

Featuring thick padding for superior comfort and  ankle support, the chunky sole provides a distinctive stance, fusing “the robust structure of a snowboard boot with the unmistakable DNA of the adidas Superstar.” With VIRGINIA emblazoned on the tongue, Pharrell is bringing all of VA vibes to the snake world.

Always repping his hometown of Virginia Beach, Pharrell enlisted hip-hop legends and frequent collaborator Clipse to lead the campaign and shot in their shared hometown of Virginia Beach by Cam Hicks, also a Va native. The footage for the campaign was shot with Virginia Beach as the backdrop showcasing the energy and creativity of the city.

Along with the adidas collab, Clipse announced in June that their new project will be entirely produced by Pharell.

“I think the album shows the supreme maturation of a rap duo,” said Pusha T. “I think this is where you get the difference between taste and filler. This music is curated. This is a high-taste-level piece of work. You can only have that level of taste when you have the fundamentals down to a science. I think it’s been definitely missing. Then there’s the competitive aspect.

“It’s bringing the fans along to see the growth, not trying to fit in or fabricate,”  Malice added, “It just seems like in other genres of music, they have the luxury of growing. For some reason, we act like we are not supposed to evolve. This is what the true evolution of the Clipse looks like. It’s just good to be able to show that and still have high-level raps.”
