The Power universe is far from finished. Starz has officially ordered Power: Legacy, a new series that reunites Joseph Sikora and Michael Rainey Jr. as Tommy Egan and Tariq St. Patrick. The announcement arrives as the franchise continues its reign as one of television’s most successful crime dramas, with hip-hop mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson helping lead the next chapter.

Power: Legacy picks up after the dramatic finale of Power Book IV: Force, where Tommy and Tariq joined forces once again. Their reunion left fans wondering whether Tommy would leave Chicago behind and return to New York. The new series answers that question with a definitive yes.

According to the official synopsis, Tommy heads back to New York and partners with Tariq as the two attempt to take control of the city. The move places two of the franchise’s most popular characters at the center of a new battle for power.

For 50 Cent, the series represents a major moment for the expanding franchise.

“Power never dies, and this chapter is our biggest yet,” Jackson said. “Fans have been waiting to see Tariq and Tommy together, and now they’re taking over New York City.”

The TV/Film mogul also praised the actors behind the iconic characters.

“Bringing Joseph and Michael back together is special,” he added. “They’ve turned these characters into true icons of the Power universe.”

Veteran producer Gary Lennon, who previously served as showrunner for Power Book IV: Force, will oversee the new series. He believes the partnership between Tommy and Tariq will create compelling television.

“I’m thrilled to reunite with Starz to bring this latest chapter of the Power Universe to fans,” Lennon said. “It’s going to be electrifying to see if these two men can share the city, the game, and the intoxicating drug known as POWER.”

Starz executives credited fan support for helping drive the decision.

“The fans have spoken, and we listened,” said Kathryn Busby, president of original programming at Starz. “Power doesn’t die, it evolves with its audience.”

With more than two billion viewing hours across the franchise and Power: Origins already in production, Power: Legacy positions Sikora and Rainey Jr. as the faces of the next era. For longtime viewers, Tommy and Tariq’s return may be the biggest Power reunion yet.
