Randy Moss will be taking “extended time” off from ESPN to deal with “a personal health challenge.”

On Friday (Dec. 6), the network released a statement detailing Moss’ upcoming hiatus.

“Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss will step away from” his Sunday morning pregame show in order “to focus on a personal health challenge,” the statement read.

“For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating ‘Countdown’ with his insight and passion,” the statement continued. “He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”

On Sunday, (Dec 1), Moss informed viewers from the set of “Sunday NFL Countdown,” that he is battling an “internal” medical issue

“I’m battling something, man, and it’s something internal. Your boy is going to get through it,” Moss continued. “I got a great team of doctors and a great family around me.”

Moss emphatically told “all you men” to “get your blood work done and we’ll work through it.”

“I just ask for all the prayer warriors … to put their blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times,” he added.

Many speculated that Moss was ill after his eyes were noticeably yellow on air. He noted that he’ll be wearing sunglasses because of his health issues.

“I just wanted to share something with you all. And I put a post up maybe a few minutes ago on Instagram just telling people. You were talking about my eyes last week, “Moss said. “I just want to let the viewers know that me and my wife, me and my family, we are battling something internally.”

After the announcement, Moss was optimistic about his health

Hailed as one of the greatest wide receivers of all time,  Moss was

inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.

He played 14 seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, the Oakland Raiders, and the New England Patriots.

Throughout his legendary career, Moss recorded 15,292 receiving yards and caught 156 touchdowns.
