Regina Hall would jump at the chance to reprise her role in a Scary Movie reboot.
Speaking with TV Insider, Hall shared her thoughts about the film being reimagined for a new audience.
“I’m just very excited to know that the Wayans, who actually started the project out of their idea, are back on board and at the helm again,” Hall said. I’m excited for them,”
“We’ll see if Brenda is in this new world,” she continued. “I’m thrilled at the possibility that the band could get back together again. That would be fun.”
Released in 2000, Keenen Ivory Wayans directed the first Scary Movie film which was co-written by Marlon and Shawn Wayans.
Scary Movie spoofed several 1990s films such as Scream (1996) and I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997). Other films that were parodied include Halloween, The Shining, Friday the 13th, The Sixth Sense, The Matrix, and The Blair Witch Project.
Due to the film’s success, four more movies were made. In the fifth installment of the series, Hall’s character Brenda Meeks and Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell were not involved in the film.
To date, the film franchise has grossed almost 900 Million at the box office.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Faris said she would love to work with Hall on a revival of the film.
“I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much,” Faris told People. “We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!”
In October, Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans confirmed they are all on board for the latest interaction of the franchise.
The film is slated to begin shooting in 2025 and will be released through Miramax and Paramount.
